The Academy of St Martin in the Fields will be performing my string ensemble piece Canzoni et ricercari in London on Saturday 6th July. The concert, titled “Summer Serenade”, also features music by Elgar, Walton, Ruth Gipps, Philip Herbert and Britten, and takes place at 7.30pm in St Anne’s Church, Limehouse as part of the Spitalfields Music Festival (see the full details and buy tickets here).
Canzoni et ricercari, for 12 solo strings, was commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society and went on to win the Royal Musical Association’s 2021 Tippett Medal. A new version for string orchestra, commissioned by Ryan Wigglesworth and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, was premiered in November 2023. I’m thrilled that the piece is continuing to resonate!
