Doctorate awarded by the Guildhall School of Music & Drama

I’m thrilled to say that I have been awarded a PhD in Composition from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the result of nearly four years of work. It’s been a transformative experience, and I’m hugely grateful to my supervisors Julian Anderson and Paul Newland, as well as those who commissioned and performed my music throughout the research period. My thesis, titled “Rethinking Structure: A Matter of Scale”, focuses on how tiny fragments and large symphonic sweeps can interact within one musical structure. The results can be heard in Cello Messages, Trio-Symphony, SEXTET and Frammenti Ricercati, which you can listen to and view the scores of here.
